as i am on talktalk super plus i was offered a free sim . How can i use this when i am already on a monthly tariff . Is it for putting into an old phone.

Well if there is not too long left on your other contract you could cancel that (or wait for it to expire) then transfer your number to your new "free" SIM and save a little money.
