Hi Taggy

 

I'm sorry this is taking longer than anticipated.

 

I may not be directly involved in the fix, but I am copied in on the email chain and there has been an ongoing conversation through out day between the TV guys and the provisioning teams discussing the best way to resolve this.  It is proving difficult for them to remove the individual TV product so they are looking at another option.

Thank you Karl. Just to let you know i will be away from about 10 am tomorrow morning till Friday afternoon, so i wont be able to action anything during that period if i need to.

NB while onto customer services say you want to renew for a further 18 months at £26.50 but would like a recordable box to be included as you are renewing - you never know

Yeah, negotiating a new contract would be the right time to ask for such a box, although I don't generally trust TT's non OCE customer services I guess I could do via online chat and keep a copy of the transcript.

 

I wouldn't actually use it for recording it, it's just that the current one is really slow, particularly from mains powered off (which, as it's on a TV in a bedroom, it normally is powered completely off.)  Is the recordable box (DN372T) much faster at starting and general use?  

 

If the DN372T is as bad as the DN360T for startup time then I'll probably not bother and just do a basic renewal of contract at the cheaper rate TBH.

Hi, 

 

Not used a 360t myself but from experience the 372T is certainly faster thar the 370T box the 360t is based upon.

Hi Karl...I've already got my home phone number on my profile...not sure how to log speed tests on there put i've just run 3 of them now  and the download speeds were 5.37 Mb, 5.35 mb & 5.35 mb & the uploads 0.88, 0.87 & 0.87. If you can let them know that. Thanks.

Just seen the log phone number bit now which i did and it came up with this.

With the current speed test you could download the following:

  • DVD in 1.65 Hours

Huawei DN370T.02.04.P linked episodes recordings all being lost after box freeze

Has happened twice now, watched a specific recording til the end, then go back to recordings list. Box freezes showing next episodes to watch of the same programme, no response to remote apart from will turn box off, but turn back on and the same frozen screen is shown.

Turn box off at the back, wait 10 seconds, turn back on and wait for startup...

Check recordings list and all the episodes of the specific programme that was watched are now gone!

 

So somehow it looks like a corruption has caused all the specific episodes to disappear :(

 

Any advise apart from format the box?

We have already done a system reset but keep recordings, so had to re-setup box settings but the recordings were still kept.

Hi, just been offered a deal with you view box with sports package but do not have working aerial in the house, it's always been through a sky dish. Currently have a TV with free sat built in which we use, how will the new box work? Will I have to swap cables etc at the back of to?


loss of internet channels on youview

last night we switched our youview box on and had freeview channels but no subscription channels or sound on the these channels.

on demand channels work fine.

the channel name and what is supposed to be on is on the bottom of the screen eg. sky one , simpsons etc.

channel 900 the same.

restarted box-no different.

factory reset-no different.

software reset-no different.

retune all channels-no different.

changed hdmi cable to tv and lan cable to router( tried all for lan ports).

tv guide works and shows what should be on.

no error codes but will say cable disconnected if i pull the lan or hdmi cable out.

fibre speeds vary from 5mbs-9mbs

every thing else works (except we still have intermittent broadband issues).

what can i try next?

Hi

 

For the internet (Boost) channels to be active the broadband speed needs to be consistently above 5Mbps and if using powerline adaptors to connect up the YouView box these need to be working properly and of course all Ethernet cables connecting up the YouView box to the router all in place.  Looking at your speeds, these appear ok.

A reboot of the router and any powerlines is often a quick fix if the Internet delivered channels aren't coming through.  The router has to pass the Multicast (Boost channel) signals.

On the YouView box remote, press YouView, then go to Settings / Software Information and look at the ISP configuration.  Should be something like 2001011. Important number is the fourth from the left.  Needs to be 1 for the Boost channels to be active.

Hi Karl

 

The engineer has just been and he was unable to rectify the problem. However he identified that TalkTalk have somehow configured my account to a TalkTalk Huawei HG633 router when I've actually got the D-Link DSL-3782 Router that they recently sent me when I upgraded to Fibre. I've never had a HG633 router.

 

The engineer contacted the service centre and requested they sort it out as its a TalkTalk

in-house error. How quickly they can resolve it I have no idea.
