Boost channel breakups and freezing

$

Hi All

Over the last couple of weeks we have been getting picture freezing and breakups when watching the boost channels which tends to be every 20 minutes, I have done the usual router on/off , cheecked the cables and restarted the box but no joy.

I can watch now tv app through the box flawless without any breakups  so i know its not the cables or the internet that is causing this,

My internet speed is a constant 72mb and upload 18mb with no dropoffs, i also run now tv on various other devices with no breakups.

Has there been any problems with the multicast recently.

regards

You see TallkTalk? I knew it was your problem, not mine.

Pleased things are back up and running for you. New router has arrived and unfortunately I'm still be greeted with the same message!

Hi Karl

Router arrived Friday and after arriving back late from seeing my team beat the mighty Leeds (couldn't watch it on the tv after all), connected it up. Unfortunately was still greeted with the message IPC6023. (For information this was connected directly to the router using new cables / filter etc - bypassing the powerline adaptors).

Then decided to reset (factory) the TV box (thus wiping all my recordings), in order to force the box to select the boost channels again, but with no success.

Logged into the router settings and noted that the software / firmware of the router was v1.15t, and left it overnight to see whether any updates (to v1.21t) were received. Alas no.

Repeated the factory reset of the TV box this morning but no joy, so any further help would be vey much appreciated.

What I don't understand is the box allows the 'players' and sky catch up to work, I can view the Grand Tour in UHD (with no buffering) from Amazon and NOWtv (because TT don't offer multiroom) on other devices. In fact I'm able to stream on four TV's at once using standard broadband (non Fibre) with no issues.

So either the problem is with the Talktalk TV box or multicast settings back with Talktalk.

I can try a second box if this helps (will add the details on my account) but don't think the problem is here.

Sorry for the lengthly post!

So I received contact from Networks who told me that they are looking into my issue and they gave me a reference number.

The last thing I heard from them was the following "TalkTalk: We have completed our tests on your service and we will provide a further update as soon as we can." Well this was an entire month ago now, I received that text on the 10th of November.

I am still paying for channels that I am unable to watch as I am still receiving the same error. Not only that but my problem actually got worse a couple of days ago and I can no longer watch channels in HD anymore as I'm getting error message YVM302!

Humax DTR-T2000 and You View iphone App.

My Huawei 370 box was playing up and it seemed like it might be a hard drive fault. I've given up in it an just bought a Humax DTR T2000 You View box. It's all up and running but I can't seem to get the You View iphone app to pair with it. It seems like it's still connected to the old box. What can I do. After a lengthy online chat with a Talk Talk expert he told me thst the app won't work with the Humax T2000 but a search on the internet says it will work. I can't get into the old Huawei box as it won't boot. Any thoughts what I should do?

Thanks,

Julian

Hi

the box is done by youview so they would be the ones to add things like that but talktalk might as they have more controls over the new version of software which is beening rolled out but can not say for sure which would do it i think youview would more as it is in there interface area like the othere on demand players

Hi and welcome to the group.

Can i say this that talktalk say its best to have their router as it has been tested with their network and other eqipment like the youview box and stuff.

As it rules out problems like speed issues and othere issues which u could have.

Can i ask how u want to have it set up as in one of these:

set up 1 . - Have the youview box pluged in to the router at the main phone socket if u are able to do that / which means the router is near the youview box and tv.

set up 2 - have the router pluged in to the main phone socket and use powerline adaptors for the conecction to the youview.

As in the one powerline adaptor is pluged in to the mains next to the router and the other ones is pluged in to the mains by the youview box which can be in another room in the house.

Joe, thanks for taking the time to post. I don't get error messages and my box is completely up to date. I think my box is completely knackered as can't even view the recordings that are saved in myview. I have an engineer coming round on weds after spending 2.5 hours online to talk talklast night trying to solve the problem. Painful.

thanks again

Ok that is good news as the bright sparks have all of the talktalk eqipment with them.

so if it is a box issue then they can replace it but do not know if they will be able to transfer the data of the recording as it would cause a issue on the new box.

I have found the bright sparks ok with the faults i have had with powerline and router issues.

Just make sure u know what they are doing just in case they bill u for another reason.

it has hapooned in the past.

Glad you are sorted....mine is fixed also but wasn't a TT fault....was in my home....I have a hg635 router connected to a Unifi Gateway USG...I thought I had setup whereby the usg was passing multicast and hence watch sky 1 , sports etc....seems it doesn't support igmp and multicast so when I plugged the TT Tv box into the hg635 router it worked straight away...so for anyone adding further firewalls make sure they support multicast!

Well, I'm glad yours is working now anyway.

Incidentally, that's pretty-much how I have mine set up.

I have one ethernet cable going around my room. That is connected to an old router I modified to become a hub/switch.

Then out of that I have three cables for my kit.

Works like a charm Smiley Happy

Recording playback if I change my boosts

$

Hi All,

I'm hoping there's an easy fix for this.  Basically, in my last 'deal' I was able to watch and record programmes on Sky one and Sky two.  When I renewed my contract, this had become part of a 'boost'.  I decided not to continue with this element.

However, now, when I want to watch the programmes that I have already recorded, it won't let me, telling me that I need to pay for the boost first.

Surely this is a technical fault?

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

Hi.

No, I am afraid it is perfectly normal.

Sky have been doing it ever since they launched Sky+

So everytime you play a recording the box has to check if you have a valid subscription to the channel.

Same applies to TalkTalk TV.

Thanks for that - I have to admit, that's a negative mark next to the system. You would've thought that as I paid for the viewing when I recorded it, I would be able to access it now.  Poor show TalkTalk....

Need to *@#][!![]'#[@#]!* up to the loft then and dig out the old VCR from now on....Sky don't control what I have at home at least..

Thanks,

Mike.

With netgear routers you need to log into the router click Advanced click settings/setup click wan settings and make sure the little checkbox labelled "disable igmp proxying" is blank.

If it has a tick in it click the checkbox to remove it and save.
