Did you get a choice of TV regions when retuning? Different channels are carried on different frequency groups, or multiplexes, so it is possible to get some, but not others.

Just plugged aerial straight into my TV, bypassing the talktalk youview box, and the HD channels work fine. So assume it's problem with the box. Very odd.
