Hi there
Did the remote come in a box because the instructions were on the box and a slide on blue "collar" over remote in box. My remote was supplied separately though. here is copy of page : TalkTalk Remote Control Guide  :

We've started to update your TV boxes, so right now you may have the newer software, or you could be in the queue for the next update.
Below you can see the differences in appearance between the two versions, one has TalkTalk TV in the top left and the other has Youview.
Take a look below at the differences and then select the one that looks right for you:

    New remote guide

    Using your remote

    Button NameWhat does it do?
    PowerSwitches your TalkTalk TV Box on & puts it into standby mode. 
    SourceSelect the source displayed on screen, for things like TV, Games Consoles, DVD players, laptops/computers, digital cameras etc.
    Red LEDIndicator light that blinks when a button is pressed.
    TV PowerUse this to switch your TV on & off. You'll need to set up your remote to control your TV first before this will work.
    Pause/Rewind/PlayControl live TV, On Demand and recorded content (TalkTalk TV Plus Boxes only). Visit About pause & rewind.
    YouViewView the Guide, including all your Freeview channels and the upcoming TV schedule.
    TalkTalk Use this to get to the TalkTalk Player, where you can rent films, buy Boosts, and watch paid-for content like Sky Sports.
    InfoPress this during a programme, or when you've highlighted it in the Guide to see the summary of a programme, including a brief synopsis, age ratings/guidance and any accessibility features supported e.g. subtitles. 
    RecordOnly for customers with a TalkTalk TV Plus Box (greyed out means your Box doesn't have this feature). Press to start recording immediately, or schedule a future programme by pressing this whilst highlighting your chosen programme in the Guide. Find out more About Recording.
    VolumeIncrease/Decrease your TV volume. You'll need to set up your remote to control your TV before this will work.
    ChannelUse this to move up/down channels.
    GuideView the Guide, including all your Freeview channels and the upcoming TV schedule.
    BackExit menus/guides without changing or confirming any settings.
    SearchSearch for your favourite programmes by entering the name with the number buttons.
    NumbersEnter letters or numbers into your TalkTalk TV Box for specific channels, PINs, postcode settings, security answers etc.
    SubtitlesSwitch subtitles on & off. Visit About subtitles to find out more. 
    Audio DescriptionSwitch Audio Description on & off. Visit About Audio Description to learn more.
    Low BatteryThis will blink when your batteries are low so you know when to change them.

Welcome to our TalkTalk TV remote control guide, where you can find out how each button can be used to enjoy your TV service. There are several versions of the TalkTalk remote, so please select the right tab for your version to view relevant information. If you need a replacement remote control, please visit the TalkTalk Shop where you can purchase one for just £6.99.

Please note, for some of the features you'll need to set up your remote to control your TV first before you can use them.

ChannelUse this to move up/down channels.
BackExit menus/guides without changing or confirming any settings.
MuteThe quick way to turn off all sound on your TV. To restore, press it again. You'll need to set up your remote to control your TV before this will work.
RecordOnly for customers with a TalkTalk TV Plus Box (greyed out means your Box doesn't have this feature). Press to start recording immediately, or schedule a future programme by pressing this whilst highlighting your chosen programme in the Guide. Find out more About Recording.
