Much as I sympathise with your predicament, I am not very hopeful of a satisfactory outcome for you.
TT are too thick skinned for minor and major protestations from the customers, especially on this forum, which is paid for by TT. ( So paid pipers - calling tunes etc analogy) Too mcuh criticism and you are banned or your posts removed.
This forum is a convenient layer they have created, and a de-facto problem solving area (albeit a limited one), which saves them hiring an army of genuine technical advisers and a proper problem solving department. ( You must have noticed when you call for any issues, you are happily transferred form one CONTINENT to the other easily, and have to repeat your life story over and over again, whilst the script readers merrily go their way when the time is up, till you drop dead of frustration). NO one REALLY gives a toss about how you feel or dejecred by thier uncaring treatment. You are just an annoyance and a statistical number for such big corporations.
As for ASA, they do not have regulatory or intervention powers, except for a slap on the wrist. Thats why the big corps. always try and push the envelope a bit furtehr till someone complaints and then they change their tack. Happens all the time. Rememebr when TT first started? they proclaimed from the rooftops about free broadband, 24 Mbps and all that?
Well it never was free but "inclusive". But we all like a freebie, dont we?
As for the "worth £299", I was one of the first one to raise my doubts about this claim of the box being worth £299. (It was Lord Sugar who invented this term for TT to rejuvinate this TV offering which was drifting & dying at the time. Yoview was going nowhere. Just an over rated Freeview box with some on demand channel software latched on.
They have since changed the wording to "Valued at" which in itself is a very vague term and grey area for interpretation. Another advertising magic pulled out of an overzealous adv. executive's backside.(BEauty in eye of beholder).
As for the OCE's, Mods and TT apologists (of which there are many) , less said the better. (paid pipers and all that- again).
