Re: Who owns the Huawei box?

I'm trying to get a satisfactory answer from TalkTalk. They state quite clearly and not in small print that the box is free.

If you give me something free then that item is, as far as I'm concerned, my property.

How can they charge me for a box that I own. I did not solicit it, Talktalk issued it free as a thank you for my customer loyalty.

Sick of them, I'm moving over to BT.

I've just joined the forum. I've been a satisfied TalkTalk broadband customer since launch day and my TalkTalk PlusTV package goes live on October 25th.

However - - I was a bit miffed that the £114 upfront line rental package has never been "offered" to one of their longest standing customers because ONLY by researching the youview deal I've now save more than the £50 installation fee by paying the rental upfront. Mad / EEK! / Confused / Frown

There are still a few "grey" areas on the TalkTalk Youview package t & c

There's nowhere in the T&C that even suggests that the box will EVER belong to me. Unsure / Mellow / Drool

Even after the 2 year contract the box would still appear to be TalkTalk's property - with penalties if it's returned in anything other than the default installation condition - which brings me on to the second and biggest drawback - the "official" restriction on upgrading the box with a 1TB or even 2TB HD as you can do with the Humax Freeview and Freesat boxes Smiley Surprised

Would someone please clarify this end of contract box ownership confusion and also confirm that the 320GB default HD is just for the installation and can be upgraded - especially after the contract ends - obviously only IF the box belongs to me. Cool / Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)
