Thanks Karl for your help on this one. Up to 9999 key presses may be required then.
Do you know whether the frequency / code numbers start at 0000 and end at 9999 or are they random. If I know that they are in ascending order I could stop after say 4000 presses as I've not seen any codes above this number. 4000 presses would take about 1 hour
The need for this learning method is because it's so hard to find the correct code for a Bush tv. I've tried 201 different codes with limited success on a V1 / V2 Huawei remote. However, I did find that if you press OK and Vol+ buttons together it allowed the tv sound to be controlled by the Huawei remote.
Surely after all these years the tv manufacturers could keep a database of their individual tv set codes linked to the tv set model number which could be available to all on the internet or written on the tv set label along with the model and serial numbers.
Lastly Talktalk could improve their instructions for the remote V3 learning mode to ensure that we know that "continuously" really means "keep pressing momentarily and releasing momentarily". It would help to know when the TV turns off how long to wait before trying to use the remote and if there is a waiting time for the red led to go on or off at this point.
The included *TIP:* says after the tv turns off make sure you don't press any other remote keys. It should say how long this rule applies otherwise you don't get to use the remote ever after.
