You have to remember that things like match choice etc etc on the RED button are only available through a Sky box.
& this is one of the features Sky will do everything in their powers to protect, therefore making them the peferred supplier for people who want match choice & certainly not allow other providers to access this feature.
What happens is this...
There are a number of transponders on the Astra 2 satellite & different matches are broadcast by Sky on different frequencies, thus, when you press the Red button, you are effectively accessing these other frequencies & a different game will be broadcast on each frequency but this is all done seamlessly in the background of the Sky box.
With IPTV, which is what Talk Talk provide, there are no extra frequencies like on satellite & only the main channel of Sky Sports can be accessed & viewed & this is probably how Sky would like it to remain, after all it is Sky's product, not Talk Talk's.
However, this feature comes with a considerable price & Talk Talk can offer the main Sports channels at much lower rates but don't have all the features, so the consumer has a choice, go with Sky, get HD, get all the features but pay about three times the cost or go with Talk Talk & save £££'s a year.
